Reaction & Reflection

Reaction & Reflection is a cycle of exhibitions and projects at eight locations in the city of Zwolle in the Netherlands. Eleven artists react and reflect to the historic city center and guarantee an unusual discovery. They respond to the city, residents and users of the city, the buildings in the city and the architecture."Reaction and Reflection ' is a project of Wim van der Beek, curator of contemporary art fund BKV Zwolle.
In the space of the KCO Jeroen Molenaar exhibited paintings, photographs and objects where he makes clear statements about the interaction between form and function. "For this exhibition I made a mirror object which reflects to the ceilings and walls of the monumental building." Says Molenaar. "In my work I question the boundaries between functionality and autonomy, I always begin with the autonomy of the object.
Function is not a principle but a side issue for me. In my paintings and photographs, you can see the link of architecture and public space. Composition, patterns and lines can be seen that a connection exists between two-dimensional work and spatial objects. The construction determines the shape of my work. I play with gravity. In each completed artwork, is the seed sown for a new work. "
